A-Plus® Skim Coat 501 is a high performance bonding paste designed to be mixed with cement or gypsum powder then applied on concrete substrates to smoothen and correct surface imperfections prior to painting. This product, once mixed with cement or gypsum powder, forms a setting-type thin plaster that imparts a luxuriously smooth and very durable finish for concrete walls and ceilings. Mix with cement powder for skim coating of exterior or heavily-exposed substrates. Use gypsum powder for indoor areas only.

Specifications
Principal Uses: For smoothing and correcting surface imperfections like grooves, seams, fine cracks, and air pockets on concrete substrates such as reinforced or new concrete walls, precast concrete panels, traditional rendering mortars, lightweight concrete blocks, gypsum and ficem boards, and other similar construction materials.

Surface Preparation & Precautions
- Surface to be skim coated must be thoroughly cleaned, free of any contaminants.
- Structural defects like leaks and all sources of internal water pressure must be thoroughly sealed and repaired to prevent damage.
- Do not apply on areas immersed in water.
- If previously painted, strip off old paint with A-Plus Supertanggal® Paint Remover.
- Avoid application of product under extreme environmental conditions and/or bad weather conditions.
- Do not intermix with other skim coat systems in order to preserve optimum product properties.
- MIX WELL before using.
Painting Procedure
Application Procedure:
- Follow proper surface preparation for new concrete.
- Make sure surface is clean and dirt-free. On very hot conditions (i.e. outdoor application) prevent pre-mature drying of skim coat by slightly misting/dampening the surface using a rag/sponge soaked in water.
- Thoroughly mix sieved portland cement and A-Plus® Skim Coat 501 at ratio of 1kg:1kg in a clean mixing container. Pot life is approximately 4 hours.
- Apply the slurry using a clean and smooth steel trowel or spatula. Press firmly for an even and thin coat. Recommended thickness is 0.3 to 4.0mm.
- Allow to dry for at least overnight before sanding and painting.
Suggested Painting System on Concrete Surfaces:
- Thin Plaster: Apply mixture of thoroughly mixed sieved portland cement and A-Plus® Skim Coat 501 at ratio of 1kg:1kg using either a spatula knife/steel trowel. Pot life is approximately 4 hours
- Sealer: Observe proper concrete curing schedule. Apply A-Plus® Concrete Sealer using either brush or roller.
- Waterproofing(Optional): For positive side waterproofing on areas such as Firewalls, Bathroom, Roofdecks, Basements, etc., apply 3-4 coats of a mixture of A-Plus® Concrete Bond with portland cement at 1-Ltr to 1-Kg ratio. Pot life is approx 4 hours. Allow 2-3 hours drying between each coat. For superior waterproofing on both positive and negative side water pressure, apply 2-3 coats of A-Plus Water-Check®.
- Primer(Optional): Apply at least 1-2 coats of A-Plus® Premium Acrylic Flat Latex as primer.
- Topcoat: Apply 2-3 coats of your choice color of A-Plus All Weather® Paint. Allow 2-3 hours drying time between each coat.
