A-Plus PolyMega® 1K Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Varnish is a highly durable, mar and abrasion resistant, non-yellowing, wood varnish. It has completely zero-odor and virtually no VOC while having the same durability and UV resistance properties of its solvent-based counterpart which makes it the choice of varnish for household wooden furniture, doors, and parquet flooring.

Surface Preparation & Precautions
SURFACE PREPARATION
- Ensure wooden substrate is fully kiln dried/treated.
- Remove old and loose paint by scraping and sanding, if necessary, use A-Plus Supertanggal® Paint Remover. To remove any wood discoloration, apply A-Plus® Wood Bleach #1 & #2.
- Countersink nail heads before applying putty. Patch up surface imperfections with A-Plus® Fast-Drying Plastic Wood Filler.
- Sand substrate using #120-240 grit sand paper followed by #400 grit sand paper for the final sanding. Vacuum substrate thoroughly before wiping with a dry cloth.
- Surface to be painted must be clean and dry, free from dirt, oil, and other contaminants.
Painting Procedure
New Painting for Wooden Floors/Furniture:
- Jointing/Putty: For jointing and filling gaps between planks, use A-Plus® Wood Glue and A-Plus® Fast-Drying Plastic Wood Filler.
- Primer: Apply at least 2 coats of A-Plus PolyClassic® 1k Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Sealer as primer. Allow each coat to dry for an hour before sanding.
- Topcoat: Apply at least 2 or more coats of A-Plus PolyMega® 1K Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Varnish using a spray gun/roller.
- Allow overnight curing time for areas with light traffic and at least 3 days for normal to heavy traffic areas.
Repainting Previously Coated Wooden Floors/Furniture:
- Ensure surface is free from wax, dirt, and oily residues. If previously painted, strip off all paint to bare substrate with A-Plus Supertanggal® Paint Remover. To remove wood discoloration, apply A-Plus® Wood Bleach #1 & #2.
- Prepare a sample or test area. Make sure test area is clean and sand it thoroughly before applying A-Plus PolyMega® 1K Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Varnish.
- After 24 hours, scratch the surface with a coin. If there is poor adhesion after 3 days, then the surface cannot be overcoated.
- After ensuring that the floor is in order with good adhesion, clean the surface well and proceed to coat the whole surface.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
• Mix well before using.
• Do not use A-Plus Polymega® 1K Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Varnish over alkyd-based wood fillers, alkyd-based wood stains, and some latex paints.
• For airless spray, it is recommended to use 0.015-0.019 tip at 2000psi then adjust pressure as needed.
• Tannin naturally appears on some wood species. Resulting finishes may vary depending on wood types.
• When in doubt, seek professional help.
