A-Plus® Gypsum Putty

A-Plus® Gypsum Putty is a ready-mixed, all-purpose, water-based jointing compound suitable for a wide range of substrates like gypsum boards, fiber cement boards, wood, concrete, and other similar surfaces. It is used for non-structural joint filling, patching, and levelling surface irregularities like cracks, dents, nail holes, etc. It is specially formulated to be crack and shrink resistant and dries fast to a smooth, easily sandable finish.

Specifications

Principal Uses: For filling joints, holes, hairline cracks on a wide range of substrates like gypsum boards, fiber cement boards, wood, concrete and other similar surfaces.

Coverage: 5-7sqm per gallon (Depending on surface gap/porosity and applying conditions)

Surface Dry: 4 hrs

Dry Through: 6 – 8 hrs

Thinning: Use as supplied

Clean-up Solvent: Water

Application: Putty Knife/Spatula/Trowel

Surface Preparation & Precautions

1. Surface to be painted must be thoroughly cleaned, free of any contaminants.
2. Structural defects like leaks and all sources of internal water pressure must be thoroughly sealed and repaired to prevent membrane damage.
3. Use product as supplied. It is not recommended to dilute with water as it could lead to cracking & excessive shrinkage.
4. Avoid painting under extreme environmental conditions and/or bad weather conditions.
5. Do not intermix with other paint systems in order to preserve optimum product properties.
6. MIX WELL before using.

Painting Procedure

For Filling Joints:

1. Mix A-Plus® Gypsum Putty until it forms a smooth and homogenous consistency. Fill the joint using a standard putty knife.
2. Immediately apply a mesh/jointing tape directly over the joint, press firmly against the freshly applied putty using a wide putty knife. Remove blisters or trapped air using the putty knife while the putty is still wet.
3. Apply another thin coat of putty over the tape. Allow to dry completely before adding additional thin coats of putty. Apply several thin coats to fully cover the jointing tape.
4. Allow to dry before sanding or applying paint. After sanding, remove loose materials by wiping area with a damp cloth.

For Other Patching Application:

1. Apply on affected areas using a standard putty knife. Apply several light strokes to cover regular application areas.
2. Allow to dry before sanding and/or applying paint. After sanding, remove loose materials by wiping area with a damp cloth.
