A-Plus® Concrete Sealer

A-Plus® Concrete Sealer is a high performance acrylic water-based primer/sealer for any type of concrete including green concrete and high efflorescence surfaces. It is formulated to protect subsequent coatings from common paint problems like blistering and chalking by sealing off excess concrete alkalinity, preventing concrete carbonation, and at the same time allowing concrete to continuously breathe out vapors.

Surface Preparation & Precautions

Surface to be painted must be thoroughly cleaned, free of any contaminants.
Structural defects like leaks and all sources of internal water pressure must be thoroughly sealed and repaired to prevent membrane damage.
Avoid painting under extreme environmental conditions and/or bad weather conditions.
Do not intermix with other paint systems in order to preserve optimum product properties.

Painting Procedure

For Green Concrete (New Concrete less than 28 days):

Allow concrete to stand for at least 4 days after setting. Remove any contaminants that may affect paint adhesion.
Apply 1-2 coats A-Plus® Concrete Sealer at package viscosity. Allow 1-2 hours drying time in-between each coat. Allow to cure for at least 24 hours before painting.

For Existing Well-Cured Concrete:

If efflorescence is present, remove by flushing off with high water pressure with the aid of a wire brush. If concrete is previously painted, remove as much of the old paint as possible to allow A-Plus® Concrete Sealer to have direct contact with the bare concrete surface.
Apply 1-2 coats A-Plus® Concrete Sealer at package viscosity. Allow 1-2 hours drying time in-between each coat. Allow to cure for at least 24 hours before painting.

Suggested Painting System on Concrete Surfaces:

Sealer: Observe proper concrete curing schedule. Apply A-Plus® Concrete Sealer using either brush or roller. (Skip this step if waterproofing will be applied)
Waterproofing: For positive side waterproofing on areas such as Firewalls, Bathroom, Roofdecks, Basements, etc., apply 3-4 coats of a mixture of A-Plus® Concrete Bond with portland cement at 1-Ltr to 1-Kg ratio. Pot life is approx 4 hours. Allow 2-3 hours drying between each coat. For superior waterproofing on both positive and negative side water pressure, apply 2-3 coats of A-Plus Water-Check®.
Primer: Apply at least 1-2 coats of A-Plus® Premium Acrylic Flat Latex as primer.
Putty: Repair all minor cracks and surface imperfections with A-Plus® Concrete Putty. For a luxuriously smooth finish, apply A-Plus® Skim Coat 501/503.
Topcoat: Apply 2-3 coats of your choice color of A-Plus All Weather® Paint. Allow 2-3 hours drying time between each coat.
